THEME \ˈthēm \
-noun
A unifying or dominant subject that permeates a story, image or poem; connecting the reader and writer by like-epiphany or contrary opinions. (The Glass Coin Dictionary)
Every magazine has a theme, be it politics; woman’s issues or weird tales, there is something that draws readers and writers or like interests to one magazine or another. In particular, people are more interested in bitcoin magazine, which provides news, analysis, information, and price data about the Bitcoin market. Because bitcoin is the most sought-after digital currency, and the bitcoin market is on the rise with easy access to trading bots like the bitcoin era. Furthermore, the bitcoin era erfahrung blog explains the users’ experience with the automated trading bots. At The Glass Coin it is our hope to bring writers and readers or all interests, styles and genres to connect over a like-interest in literature. We’ve seen how the written word can bring people together. It can ascend race, gender, nationality and even geography. That’s what The Glass Coin is about.
It’s a big theme for a magazine of flash literature and short poems.
So each issue dissects one idea – a split-theme. This makes the big idea possible. We aren’t a tied-down-to-a-single-theme magazine. This allows us to open up to different genres and styles and opinions. We aren’t afraid to publish words that explore views opposing our own – so long as the writer respects the positions of others while not compromising her own. That’s the exciting idea behind The Glass Coin – the possibilities are endless.
LITERATURE \ˈli-tə-rə-ˌchu̇r \
-noun
Literally translated “acquaintance with letters,” A quality of written work, to have literary merit, to be a work of art, and therefore be subjective. Practically speaking, literature is a well written piece of work, that is character or thematically driven and comments on life, society or the human condition. (The Glass Coin Dictionary)
Do you have an acquaintance with letters? Do you know how to use words to take away a reader’s breath? That’s what we’re looking for. Not a series of actions or a self-indulgent monolog. We want to feel something. That’s what we mean when we say we’re a literary magazine; and the themes are a big part of that. Thematic literature can be powerful. It can turn a simple story into a profound statement. And more than anything – that’s what we like to read.
STYLE \ˈstī(-ə)l \
-noun
A particular kind, sort, or type of writing relating to its form or appearance. (The Glass Coin Dictionary)
There are a lot of poetry magazines out there and a lot of fiction magazines – and even some essay magazines. But we print all three, and in order to tie them together, they are connected by a theme. Just keep it short. Really that’s the only limit. We want Flash Fiction, Flash Prose and Poetry. What else is there? So long as it’s literature and so long as it’s under 1000 words (50 lines for poetry), we are happy to look at it.
GENRE \ˈzhän-rə \
-noun
A group or category relating to an artistic endeavour and having a particular content or subject matter. (The Glass Coin Dictionary)
Because we aren’t limiting our contributors to a particular genre, we foresee publishing a variety of flash literature and poetry that might not make it into a more mainstream publication. Sairah writes predominately flash prose, and Jo writes mostly sci-fi. Two editors with just differing styles has its effect and we’d like to see more than the sum of our portfolios. Flash Westerns. Romantic Poetry. Or Western Poems and Flash Romance. Why not? If it supports the theme of an upcoming issue, we are interested. And if it doesn’t, suggest a theme. See how freeing having a split-theme magazine is?
